2026 MOLN Day on the Hill

Description

Join MOLN at the Minnesota State Capitol for a day of advocacy, connection, and impact. 

Day on the Hill is a dedicated opportunity for nurse leaders from across Minnesota to come together, meet with legislators, share firsthand perspectives, and champion policies that strengthen patient care and the nursing profession. This event empowers nurses to use their voices, build relationships with policymakers, and help shape the future of healthcare in our state.

Event Details

• Date: Thursday, April 9, 2026
• Time: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM (depending on individual appointment schedules)
• Location: Minnesota State Capitol 75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Saint Paul, MN 55155
• Check‑In: Front steps of the Capitol
• This is a FREE event for MOLN Members!

Optional Midday Gathering: At 12:00 PM, participants are invited to gather on the Capitol steps for a group photo and informal networking.

Before You Arrive: Participants should schedule meetings with their legislators ahead of time using their home address, work address, or both. 

You can look up your legislators and contact information using Legislators - Minnesota Legislature.

2. Find your house representative and senator (scheduling a meeting with both legislators would be ideal).
3. Locate their legislative assistant contact information.
4. Email or phone the legislative assistant to arrange a meeting time (note if you email and do not hear back, we recommend following up with a phone call to schedule a meeting time).
5. Please note legislative calendars fill fast, so we recommend you arrange a meeting as soon as possible!

Please note: Both buildings are a short walk from the Capitol grounds.

• Representatives have offices in the Centennial Office Building (east of the Capitol).
• Senators have offices in the Minnesota Senate Building (University Ave. & Park St., northwest of the Capitol).

Small‑Group Visits: Participants are welcome to pair up with colleagues for small group visits with legislators. This option can make the experience more comfortable—especially for first‑time advocates—and supports a collaborative approach to sharing nursing perspectives.

Pre‑Event Webinar & Resources: Ahead of Day on the Hill, MOLN will host a preparatory webinar covering:

• Date/Time: Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.
• Best practices for legislative visits
• What to expect during your time at the Capitol
• Key issues and policy topics for this year's advocacy conversations

In advance of the event, MOLN will also provide optional talking points for key positions the organization endorses and plans to discuss during the webinar. Participants are additionally encouraged to advocate on issues that matter most to them, reflecting the diverse priorities of Minnesota’s nursing community.
